Sector - Investing in Ireland
Ireland is on track to get close to its EU target of 40 per cent electricity from renewable sources by 2020. The Renewable Energy Feed-in-Tariff (REFIT) scheme helped the growth of Onshore Wind farms in particular, since 2009. But the next decade is likely to see unprecedented growth in this sector, powered by the Renewable Energy Support Scheme (RESS), which seeks to boost a mix of technologies, insisting on local community benefits being built in.
Our Renewable Energy and Natural Resource Team spans the areas of solar power, wind power, biomass, pyrolysis and energy from waste and recycling.
Our Solicitors have worked on many energy projects and their financing. We have earned experience in all aspects of the renewable sector and energy regulations in Ireland.
We act for the largest solar energy company in Ireland and also advise numerous players in the wind and biomass industries ranging from start-ups to multi-nationals, developers and investors. As such, we are ideally positioned to assist companies looking to invest in Ireland’s renewable energy sector.
Our clients collectively are the largest holders of land with planning and grid connections in the country.
We have particular experience in the drafting and negotiation of options and lease agreements between landowners and energy providers to ensure legal certainty to our clients.
The Renewable Energy sector is changing rapidly in terms of how it is funded, the legislation which surrounds it and the technology applied to it. We strive to understand our clients’ business so that we can best apply the opportunities in this changing environment to our clients’ needs.
We advise clients in the areas of:
- Funding and Investment Structures
- Property Agreements
- Commercial Contracts
- Grid Connections
- Supply Agreements
- Solar energy assets
